The National Stock Exchange (NSE) is planning to launch its web-based application for brokers — called the National Exchange for Automated Trading on Web (NOW) — to provide a single front-end platform for trading members to access NSE cash, futures and options segments, currency derivatives and NCDEX commodity derivatives on the same trading terminal. Of 1,000 members, 500 have signed up for NOW. The exchange first introduced this application during the launch of currency derivatives in August and plans to introduce other products on this application in the future. However, the system will aid smaller broking outfits since it requires minimal investment and documentation. Further, it gives brokers the capacity to expand dealer terminals and doesn’t require any additional investment. The system will free broker-members from worries about software upgrades.
